    Key dates

    • Wed, October 7, 2026: Voter registration deadline
      Last day to register to vote, or to update a name or address, for the general election.
    • Tue, October 20, 2026: No-excuse in-person absentee voting begins
      From the second Tuesday before the election through the day before, any voter may cast an absentee ballot in person at a location set by the local election authority, with photo ID.
    • Wed, October 21, 2026: Deadline to request an absentee ballot by mail
      Mailed or faxed requests must reach the local election authority by 5 p.m. Voting by mail requires an approved excuse.
    • Tue, November 3, 2026: Election Day
      Polls open 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Absentee ballots must be received by the local election authority by the time polls close (7 p.m.); postmarks do not extend the deadline, except for certain military and overseas voters.
