Key dates
- Mon, October 19, 2026: Voter registration deadlineLast day to register to vote for the general election. Alabama does not have same-day registration.
- Tue, October 27, 2026: Absentee ballot application deadline (by mail)Mailed applications must be received by your county absentee election manager at least 7 days before the election. A copy of photo ID is required.
- Thu, October 29, 2026: Absentee ballot application deadline (in person)Hand-delivered applications must be received at least 5 days before the election.
- Mon, November 2, 2026: Deadline to hand-deliver an absentee ballotHand-delivered absentee ballots must reach the absentee election manager by close of business (no later than 5 p.m.) the day before the election.
- Tue, November 3, 2026: Election DayPolls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. local time. Mailed absentee ballots must be received by noon on Election Day. Military and overseas ballots postmarked by Election Day count if received by noon Nov. 10.
