Key dates

  • Sun, October 4, 2026: Voter registration deadline
    Register online at vote.ri.gov or in person at your local board of canvassers. Same-day registration is not available for this election.
  • Tue, October 13, 2026: Deadline to apply for a mail ballot
    Applications are due by 4 p.m.
  • Wed, October 14, 2026: Early in-person voting begins
    Vote at your city or town hall or designated location during regular business hours for the 20 days before Election Day. Bring a valid photo ID.
  • Mon, November 2, 2026: Last day of early in-person voting
    Early voting ends at 4 p.m.
  • Tue, November 3, 2026: Election Day
    Polls open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. (New Shoreham opens at 9 a.m.). Mail ballots must be received by the State Board of Elections or placed in an official drop box by 8 p.m.; a postmark is not enough.
