Key dates
- Sun, October 4, 2026: In-person absentee voting available at town clerk's officesAbsentee ballots are available at the clerk's office 30 days before the election; no application is needed to vote in the clerk's presence. Check your clerk's office hours.
- Tue, October 13, 2026: Voter registration deadline (mail and online)Online by 5 p.m., or by mail/third party received by your town by close of business. After this, register in person at your town office or at the polls on Election Day.
- Tue, October 27, 2026: Last day to register through the BMV
- Thu, October 29, 2026: Absentee ballot request deadline; last day of in-person absentee votingRequests must be received by your town by close of business 3 business days before Election Day, and in-person absentee voting ends the Thursday before the election, unless special circumstances exist.
- Tue, November 3, 2026: Election DayPolls open between 6 and 10 a.m., depending on the town, and close at 8 p.m. You can register in person and vote the same day. Absentee ballots must be returned to your municipal clerk by 8 p.m. Ranked-choice voting is used for U.S. Senate and U.S. House.
