Why they say you should vote for them

- Running as an independent, saying "both major parties have failed working people" and that Mississippi needs a senator not tied to either party.[6],[7]
- Says he does not accept money from millionaires, billionaires, lobbyists or super PACs.[7]
- Points to 21 years in the Army, three combat tours and service as a White House communications aide under presidents of both parties.[2],[6]
- Says he would not caucus with either party and, as the price of helping form a Senate majority, would seek votes on a congressional stock-trading ban, overturning Citizens United and Supreme Court ethics rules.[7]
- Says the most important thing a leader must do is listen, and that his campaign is driven by voters telling him what matters to their families.[1],[8]
