One of New Jersey's two U.S. senators, who vote on federal legislation, confirm presidential nominees and ratify treaties.
6-year term. Regular election for the full term beginning January 2027. Incumbent Democrat Cory Booker first won the seat in an October 2013 special election. Booker was unopposed in the June 2, 2026 Democratic primary; Justin Murphy won a four-candidate Republican primary with about 33% of the vote. Veronica Fernandez and Joanne Kuniansky qualified by petition; their ballot slogans appear in the party column of the state's official candidate list. Booker and Murphy debated on October 8, 2026, in Lawrenceville, in an event hosted by the New Jersey Globe and Rider University.
