U.S. senators represent New Mexico in the U.S. Senate, voting on federal legislation and budgets, confirming presidential nominees, and ratifying treaties.
6-year term. Regular election for the full six-year term beginning Jan. 3, 2027. Incumbent Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D) is seeking a second term. Two candidates are printed on the ballot. Republican Larry Marker won his party's June 2, 2026 primary as a write-in candidate and appears on the general-election ballot. The Secretary of State's candidate list shows the other filers for this office (Forward Party and independent candidates) as disqualified.

Ben Ray Luján
U.S. Senator from New Mexico (since 2021)Luján grew up on a family farm in Nambé, served on the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission, and represented the 3rd Congressional District for 12 years before winning his Senate seat in 2020. He won the June 2026 Democratic primary over Matt Dodson. His campaign focuses on lowering costs, protecting health care and safety-net programs, and opposing Trump administration policies.
Larry Marker
Works in constructionMarker works in construction in Roswell and previously worked in the oil industry. He has filed a series of lawsuits against state officials over COVID-19 rules, election administration, and abortion laws, which his campaign presents as "Defending Your Rights." He won the June 2026 Republican primary as a write-in candidate with about 31,000 votes. His campaign focuses on oil and gas production, border security, and agriculture.
